Our Story

The owners call it Fabrizi’s, a place in the mountain on the Jumonville Road.”

Patrons call it a place like home, where homemade pasta is served to please.

Fabrizi's Italian Restaurant has changed only it’s appearance since it was opened in 1942, by Nick Fabrizi, who was formerly involved with another popular restaurant in Uniontown across from the old police station.  The friendly family atmosphere and home style food hasn’t changed.

It started as just a Sunday get-together with some close friends; they called it Fabrizi’s Place, and then eventually became Fabrizi's Restaurant.

Nick married Adeline DiNunno, the aunt and godmother of the current owner, Jerry Krofcheck

Mr. Fabrizi passed away in 1967, leaving his wife, Adeline to continue the tradition.  Joined later by her sister Rose Erminio, Jerry’s grandmother, and her husband Chauncey.  They ran the restaurant until 1990, when Mrs. Fabrizi passed away.  Jerry took over in 1990 and made no changes to the recipes handed down to him.

Everything is still home made from the heart. Jerry had worked at Fabrizi's since 1985 while attending chef school at Westmoreland County Community College.  His aunt Adeline taught him then to make the sauce.

“I can still remember her teaching me the sauce,” said Jerry.

“My aunt told me never to give it to anyone.” Jerry graduated in 1988 and became a certified chef with the American Culinary Federation.”

Recent expansion over the last several years has increased the seating capacity, including a new banquet room, with seating up to 75 people for parties and luncheons, a bar area, to have a drink while waiting for a table or to just come and chat with your friends, and a newer larger kitchen to handle the expanded seating, a fireplace, and outdoor seating for summertime.  Although Fabrizi's has expanded, one thing hasn’t changed the clean, fresh, and friendly atmosphere that is our trademark.

Fabrizi's is always overflowing with customers, some who have been eating there since the doors first opened in the 1940’s.

“People call it home.  They call it a landmark,” says Jerry, “people say we are like one of their family.”

Most of the regular customers don’t need a menu and most employees don’t need to be reminded of there order.

Offering a variety of homemade pasta, smothered in thick zesty sauces:  oversized portions of fresh-cut steaks, veal, chicken, and pork chops, pizza, and huge overflowing antipasto salads stuffed with meat, cheeses, and the freshest vegetables and topped off with the famous house Italian dressing, Fabrizi's conjures up a “favorite” in every customers’ mind.

Some other favorites include: homemade gnocchi, ravioli, crepe manicotti, lasagna.  Fabrizi's has also added some seafood favorites, some lighter vegetarian sauces, we have also added a variety of different sauces to satisfy those who prefer something other than our traditional sauce some specialty pasta dishes, and some sandwiches. Watch out for some other exciting new entrees this summer.  Enjoy Veal Nite on Tuesday, featuring a huge piece of veal, side of pasta, and a salad .  Wing nite is on Wednesdays, and all day on Sundays.

Fabrizi's is located in the beautiful Laurel Highlands just minutes from Uniontown on Jumonville Road.  Take U.S. Route 40 east to the historic Summit Inn; turn left then just 2 miles on the left.
